How a knee replacement surgery is done

Using general anesthesia, knee replacement surgery is done, but spinal anesthesia or epidural can also be used for the same.

The worn part of a person’s knee is replaced with a prosthetic part removing the bones. The procedure can be either full or partial knee replacement depending on the condition of the person.

Total knee replacement is more common where the surgeon replaces both the sides of the knee joints. Time taken can be 1 to 3 hours.

If you need a partial or total knee replacement, then you must consult Dr. Nirad Vengsarkar, at the Ortho Insight clinic in Mumbai.
